_MG_2556_FBHello Dear VENICE Marathon Organization,

I would really appreciate some response from the organization regarding some issues as followed below.

First of all: I have to congratulate the Event 29th Venice Marathon Organization for the beautiful marathon yesterday. Very well chosen route, incredible vibe, nice pack, great post run assistance. Everything. I had a wonderful moment, I laughed, I cried, it was very emotional, I think, to all of us. If I have the opportunity sure I will do it again. However, there are one point I want to clarify and it is regarding the CHIP and distance.

I was wearing a GARMIN for Runners completely updated and in perfect conditions as well as a NIKE PLUS satellite GPS. BOTH have registered same information in each and every one KM. At KM 41, both and the mark by the Piazza San Marco matched more or less. HOWEVER final distance in both of my devices were 42,637KM or 26,49mi.

I reached the right marathon distance for what I prepared and calculate for month to accomplished in: 3:59:04 as you will see in the pictures attached.

image11Both of my devices, truly, at the mark 42,637 Km or 26,49mi were yes pointing out 4:00:30 as shown in your website.

The summary of 5K, 10K and so one measures, none of those also match, although it won’t change the final mark.

Well, the official marathon distance is 42,195. I agree with final time BUT the distance must be corrected. You know what is dedicate months and months to get a result, do lots of calculations about what you can and cannot do, celebrate your mark and then receive something like that?

My above of all goals were to finish and I did it. I love my position considering how many people were running. But I’m feeling as my dream was stolen from me. I shared immediately pots race the picture of my timing celebrating my sub 4hs. It means a lot to me in the next races and I really hope to see it corrected.

As great in relevance this marathon is seen I hope I may receive a proper response ASAP.

Thank you.

_MG_2562_FBDear Iana,

We are very happy that you enjoyed our race and we do thank you for paying us with compliments! It is always nice when someone appreciates our efforts in offering good events. Concerning your point, it happened in the past and we checked few times as other athletes told us the same thing. The course was measured in 2011 and it was certified by a IAAF Measurer, each year then it is marked with pain to have the proper track clear and place the km marks in the right places. As you said the kilometers were perfect till St. Mark’s Sq.

The problems occured in St. Mark’s because generally when there are laps or circle forth and back the sensors of the GPS get a bit confused, but we assure you that the race course is correct and the distance is perfect. Hope this explanation helps you. Looking forward to meeting you again at the start line of the Venicemarathon, we remain at your disposal for any further need you may have.
